emethlabs is a one-person studio by Smith Shelke. We take small, opinionated software end-to-end — from the first sketch through the year-two patch — with care for craft and a stubborn belief that honest, beautifully made tools still matter.
Two shipped products, both built and run by the studio. Small surface area, sharp focus, real users.
A quiet tool for weaving signals together — small, fast, opinionated. Designed to feel like a single keystroke.
A precise way to cut, mark and share moments from video — for the way people actually use video on the web.
emethlabs is a studio of one — Smith Shelke. A short note and the relevant record below.
I started emethlabs after six years of shipping product engineering at a large consumer-tech company in India. I wanted to work at a smaller scale — where one person can still hold the whole shape of a product in their head, and where every decision is mine to make and to live with.
The studio's job is to make a small number of well-considered things — our own products, and the occasional engagement for teams that care about craft. I'm comfortable across the stack, from infrastructure to interface, and most at home in the messy middle where the two meet.
